2. Visit the Palais des Papes (Palace of the Popes)

One of the largest Gothic palaces in Europe, the Palace of the Popes was the seat of the Catholic Church in the 14th century. Towering over Avignon’s old town, it’s a stunning symbol of medieval architecture and papal history, with grand halls, frescoes, and sweeping views of the Rhône River. Visitors can take guided tours or explore at their own leisure.

3. Rent a car for a day trip

The surrounding Provencal region has endless destinations that are accessible by car such as the Châteauneuf-du-Pape region known for world-class red wine makers and scenic vineyards. Or visit one of the beautiful villages in the Luberon like Gordes, Roussillon, and Lourmarin - expect stone houses,  open-air markets, and stunning views. Regardless of where you end up in Provence, expect an incredible ride through the south of France!
